Name: Lesley Hoffman
Please tell us a little about yourself and what drew you to virtual training/coaching.
It started with the pandemic while the gym was closed. After everything opened back up, virtual training just worked best with my somewhat erratic work schedule.
What do you do when you're not virtually training with Begin Within?
I like baking in my free time and just started dabbling in making bread from scratch. I'm an avid reader and book collector. Speaking of collecting, I've also put together a nice little collection of Star Wars and Marvel Funko Pops.
Tell us about your time with us, your goals, and results you have experienced so far.
I wanted to keep my goals attainable. I wanted to get back into the routine working out with a trainer a couple of times a week. I also wanted to get back into meal prep. Begin Within has given me a level of accountability. I work out twice a week virtually and added walks at least twice a week. Meal prepping has been going great too. I've been prepping all my breakfasts and lunches for the work week for months now.
What is one thing you have done since starting with us that you never thought you could do?
I'm looking for little ways to add extra activity to my day. I park farther away at the store so my walk is bit longer. I do squats while washing my hands or lateral lunges while warming something up in the microwave.
What is your favorite part about virtual training?
First, I always feel 100% better after a session. It improves my mood and mindset so much.
Second, I'm very lucky that I get to work out with the same couple ladies most of the time (Shout out to Suzy and Julia!). They help make it such a fun and encouraging time that I look forward to our sessions together.
What is something on your bucket list (fitness or non-fitness related)?
Fitness related, I'd like to be able to do an unassisted pull up one day.
Non-fitness related, I'd like to make it Comic Con out in San Diego once.
What would your advice be to somebody who is nervous about virtual training and/or nutrition services with Begin Within?
It's well worth giving it a try. The biggest thing for me is it takes a lot of the guess work out of working out. I don't have to rack my brain or scour the internet for a workout on any particular day since there are tons to choose from in the app. With actual virtual sessions, Jessica (the trainer) is the best. I've never once felt short changed or that I didn't get enough interaction with Jessica during a session. She always has alternate exercises ready or ideas on how to work with the equipment I have at home. She has always been more than willing to do what she can to help me reach my goals. She's an absolute dream to work with.
