Please tell us a little about yourself and what drew you to virtual training/coaching.
Hello! My name is Sarah. I'm 38 years old and I live in Wisconsin. I am a work in progress, but I am 41lbs lighter than I used to be.
I knew I needed help on my weight loss journey. There is so much misinformation out there. For every piece of information you think is true, you can find an article on why the opposite is true. I needed a source of truth. The reasonable cost drew me into virtual coaching. I signed up for a year.
What do you do when you're not working with Begin Within?
I work 40-50 hour each week. I absolutely love going on vacations. When I'm not working or traveling, I spend time with my family and friends. We enjoy having cookouts, going to comedy shows and getting together for game nights.
Tell us about your time with us, your goals, and results you have experienced so far.
My primary goal is weight loss. I have learned that I can not control the number on the scale. My weight fluctuates everyday and that is completely normal. I have learned that I need to put more focus, time and energy into the things that I can control. Things like: physical activity, what I'm eating, how much I'm eating, the amount of fruit and vegetables I consume, how much sleep I get each night, how much water I drink. By focusing on the things I can control and working on my healthy habits, I'm seeing weight loss results.
What is one thing you have done since starting with us that you never thought you could do?
One thing I have done since starting that I never thought I would do, is take pictures of my food. It's really a great tool. Each day I have a visual library of what I have eaten. This helps me reflect and see if there are spots that I can make better choices and improvements. Another thing I wasn't expecting is to feel comfortable being uncomfortable. Self reflection can be challenging, but that is really where growth takes place.
What is your favorite part about working with us?
My coach is amazing. It's like having your own personal guide on your health and fitness journey. I have a safe space to stumble and get back up to try again. Each mistake I think I make is really just a learning opportunity. You can't mess this up. I really enjoy the weekly check-ins. They help me reset and refocus for the upcoming week. I also like the ease of the program. There is one habit to focus on each week and reflection to see what went well and what didn't. You keep what works and change what didn't. Small steps in the right direction are helping me build a solid foundation of good habits that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
What is something on your "bucket list" - fitness or non-fitness related?
One item on my bucket list is traveling to Italy. My husband and I are planning a trip there in 2023.
What would your advice be to somebody who is nervous about virtual training and/or nutrition services with Begin Within?
You deserve to live your life as the best version of yourself. We all have fitness goals that we would like to achieve someday. Let today be the day you get started on your goals. Most people have heard that you should eat less and move more, but how exactly do you incorporate lasting healthy habits into your life every day? Taking time for yourself makes you better for you and everyone around you. I encourage you to fully commit to the process and work on changes that need to take place from the inside out. You just have to be willing to start, exactly where you are. Let Begin Within be your personal guide.
